panoramix:/home/jkr# hdparm -t /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
Timing buffered disk reads: 170 MB in 3.02 seconds = 56.28 MB/sec
panoramix:/home/jkr# hdparm -t /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb:
Timing buffered disk reads: 176 MB in 3.09 seconds = 56.97 MB/sec
panoramix:/home/jkr# hdparm -t /dev/sdc
/dev/sdc:
Timing buffered disk reads: 374 MB in 3.01 seconds = 124.11 MB/sec
This should be enough for listening MP3's without stuttering. Running
hdparm on sda and sdb (both on the onboard Sil 3114 controller) makes
the music stutter, sdc (on the 3ware 9500S) not.
I have run bonnie++ on all the disks. Running it on sda and sdb results
in a totally unresponsive system and very modern music, (and the MP3's
are not on those disks!!). Running bonnie++ on sdc gives no problem.
