Install process hangs on MTA restart

Installation hangs after email configuration with message:

	Restarting MTA: exim4

I've tried "local delivery only" and "no configuration" -- both hang.

I can log into the second console.

This happened with each of these two isos.

	sid-amd64-netboot.iso          01-Mar-2005
	sid-amd64-netinst.iso          19-Feb-2005

I was using the following mirror site.

	deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-amd64/pure64 sid main contrib non-free

I can spent a bit of time helping to debug this.  Shall I try an earlier 
version first?  Different mirror?  Monolithic iso?
