jackd, realtime-lsm etc

Hi,
I would like to setup jackd (JACK) so I can build audio workstation.
Do I need realtime-lsm module?
Do I need to recompile kernel?
Do I need low-latency patch?
Do i need pre-emptive patch?

I have installed jackd but it won't start. According to the docs for
JACK on i386 I need to add realtime and kernel patches. Can't find any
info for JACK on AMD64.
