Problem with lp and/or cups
Hi -
since I have upgraded to kernel 2.6.12 any print command (even
something like 'lp /etc/motd') produces several pages of garbage.
Booting into a 2.6.11 kernel printing is okay.
Versions are (everything is standard Debian packages defaulted to etch)
kernel 2.6.12-1-amd64-k8
cupsys 1.1.23-12
cupsys-client 1.1.23-12
In addition, the bootlog (dmesg) for 2.6.12 shows the following entries
lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven).
lp0: ECP mode
lp0: ECP mode
lp0: ECP mode
whereas there is no 'ECP mode' notification when booting into 2.6.11.
Any idea out there what causes the garbage printing under 2.6.12, and how to correct it?
