Weird sensord problem

Gigagbyte GA-K8N-Ultra-9 motherboard, BIOS revision F6
Gigabyte nVidia 6600 video card.
Audigy 2 value sound card.

Full 64 bit install.
	sensord v2.9.2-2
	linux-image-2.6.12-1-amd64-k8-smp	v2.6.12-7

Problem also occurs with:
	self compiled 2.6.13.2 kernel
	linux-image-2.6.12-1-amd64-k8	v2.6.12-7

Problem does not occur with:
	 kernel-image-2.6.8-11-amd64-k8 v2.6.8-14.

When sensors -s run during boot sequence, or manually after boot is complete
a high pitched loud whine is heard which can't be silenced.

This also causes video problems as well. KDE starts, you invoke konsole, or
display an image or use the menus and the display gets trashed. It doesn't
lock the display, just puts garbage over it. The colours get messed up.
It's still usable.

It's not the audio (onboard AC97 disabled in BIOS, or Audigy 2 value).

Deleting the sensord package from my system resolves both issues.

Any ideas?
