Indeed.

AFAIK powernow technology for AMD64 support only the frequencies given
by the pdf I pointed you.  The stepping is therefore 200MHz, with the
notable exception of the lower frequency.  look at the
"BIOS and Kernel Developer's Guide for AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Opteron
Processors" document at the same page I pointed you earlyer.

It's also possible to throttle the processor but it won't save
you powers.

It is also possible to modify the system clock
(sometimes mis-called FSB on AMD64/Opteron systems),
and therefore will have a consequence on the frequency of the
processor.
In the latter case, linux support only one chipset at this time,
and this is the nforce2 IIRC.

I'm not sure where or what you are referring for steps of 100Hz, but
I think you are refering to frequency scaling of the system clock,
maybe?
