However, ifrename is a great piece of software, which solves the problem in a straightforward way without any overhead and fuzz. Imho, it should get more integrated into /etc/network/interfaces and/or debian-installer, because dinamically changing interface names may drive people nuts, especially, when almost all desktops/laptops come with at least two net devices (fireware and LAN) integrated nowadays.
