Actually there are two. The AMD and Intel implementations have very different 
performance characteristics.

However if the box is intended for heavy duty FP work the chances are that 
99+% of the time sill be spent executing custom user code already optimized 
for that particular machine. There's also a fair chance such users won't be 
using the system compiler to compile their applications, so that doesn't 
usually matter either.
