Do you have contrib and non-free in your sources.list?
Using the nvidia official installer is a great way to destroy your
system setup. Running 3rd party install programs is a "Bad Thing". I
wish microsoft would get around to making a decent software install
system for windows and ban 3rd party installers some day so at least
people wouldn't keep breaking their windows systems so much and teaching
people bad habits.
