As far as I know it's a 64-bit kernel with IA32 emulation. In other words, the kernel is 64-bit, but it supports a 32-bit user-land. > Am I better of using a really x386 package for now? That depends on what you expect from a 64-bit system. > I tried to compile using /debian/rules binary-modules > and here is what I get: > > # build and install the module > > /usr/bin/make KPKG_EXTRAV_ARG= KSRC=/usr/src/linux \ > > KVER=2.6.10-9-amd64-k8 \ > > > INST_DIR=debian/ndiswrapper-modules-2.6.10-9-amd64-k8/lib/modules/2.6.10-9-amd64-k8/misc/ > > install > > make[1]: Entering directory > > `/usr/src/modules/ndiswrapper' > > /usr/bin/make -C /usr/src/linux > > SUBDIRS=/usr/src/modules/ndiswrapper \ > > NDISWRAPPER_VERSION=1.0rc2 \ > > EXTRA_VERSION= modules > > make[2]: Entering directory > > `/usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.10-9-amd64-k8' > > CC [M] /usr/src/modules/ndiswrapper/hal.o > > cc1: error: code model `kernel' not supported in > > the 32 bit mode I'm not sure, but it looks like you're using a version of ndiswrapper that doesn't support AMD64. I recommend you use the latest version. I got 1.1 to work on a 64-bit kernel without any problem. I don't think that you'll be able to compile a version for a 64-bit kernel with the stock 32-bit compiler; I can send you the compiled ndiswrapper I use if you want (64-bit, not a Debian package). Have in mind that you will need a 64-bit NIC driver (available for Broadcom cards). I must say that it was much easier for me to install and set up a pure 64-bit distribution than what you are trying to accomplish, but your mileage may vary. -- Javier Kohen <jkohen@users.sourceforge.net> ICQ: blashyrkh #2361802 Jabber: jkohen@jabber.org
