As far as I know it's a 64-bit kernel with IA32 emulation. In other
words, the kernel is 64-bit, but it supports a 32-bit user-land.

That depends on what you expect from a 64-bit system.

I'm not sure, but it looks like you're using a version of ndiswrapper
that doesn't support AMD64. I recommend you use the latest version. I
got 1.1 to work on a 64-bit kernel without any problem. I don't think
that you'll be able to compile a version for a 64-bit kernel with the
stock 32-bit compiler; I can send you the compiled ndiswrapper I use if
you want (64-bit, not a Debian package). Have in mind that you will need
a 64-bit NIC driver (available for Broadcom cards).

I must say that it was much easier for me to install and set up a pure
64-bit distribution than what you are trying to accomplish, but your
mileage may vary.
