The apt *.deb files for amd64(gcc-3.4) version 0.5.28.1.0.0.1.gcc4 are corrupted. If I rebuild and install these packages using the sources in the gcc-3.4 archive, then aptitude works. Reinstall of the "official" packages: The core dump is back. Regards Harri
