I am using the amd64/gcc-3.4 myself on my own servers and workstations 
and it works quite well. However, mixing packages from the 
pure64/gcc-3.3 archive and the amd64/gcc-3.4 is not recommended. At 
least for packages which use C++ this mixing can lead to problems.
