That's because there are no sources there.
where are the fixes then, for building for amd64? or is that pretty rare
these days and most problems are just generic sid problems?
The majority of packages there are built without any modifications.  You
are right; I should be posting the specific patches somewhere.  They're
used most with dpkg and gcc.  My idea has always been to report them to
the Debian BTS but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
