With the linux-2.6 2.6.15-7 package in unstable, the LEGACY_START_ADDRESS kernel option has been moved to a separate "legacy" kernel flavor, which means the Debian alpha port should again support TITAN-class systems such as the DS15, DS25, DS45, and ES47 which need more memory for SRM. Debian-installer netboot images are also now available than include this support, at <http://people.debian.org/~vorlon/d-i/alpha/daily/>. (Since daily CD image building has now switched to use etch d-i in preparation for d-i etch beta2, this enhancement will not be available on CDs until another round of d-i autobuilds take place.) Also new in these images, the de2104x module has been enabled in d-i for compatibility with 21040 and 21041 network cards. A bug is still open on the kernel packages about whether this is the correct module to use with these cards; if you experience networking troubles with tulip-based chipsets, either in these dailies or in beta2 when it's released, please follow up to bug #352765 to give the kernel team evidence that the current upstream driver mappings are incorrect. In the meantime, having de2104x loaded is probably better than not having *anything* loaded, for most users. :) In addition to these fixes to the daily netboot builds, the daily CD builds should now correctly be installing 2.6.15 kernels on all systems, instead of 2.4.27 as before. Installation reports using the template at <http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/en.i386/ch05s03.html#submit-bug> are welcome for any of these images, to let us know what works and what doesn't.
