bzip2 unaligned trap

HI all!

I have linux 2.4.30 running on a PC164:
Linux version 2.4.30-foralpha (root@beta) (gcc version 3.3.4) #1 Fri Apr 8 16:18:15 CEST 2005
Booting on EB164 variation PC164 using machine vector PC164 from SRM
Major Options: EV56 LEGACY_START MAGIC_SYSRQ

With this kernel I get permanent unaligned trap errors from bzip2:
bzip2(10013): unaligned trap at 00000200000c3074: 00020c5100020c3d 28 1

Does anyone know wether this is a hardware or software problem?

Best wishes

Norbert
