If you instead use "port=0x534", it won't fail to load, BUT...

...it still won't work... :-(

I've yet to be able to get the built-in (supposedly) WSS-compatible
sound on AS2xx  and AS500 working under ALSA under 2.6.x kernels.
Add-in ISA WSS cards do work fine.

Sigh...
