[SOLVED] Gdk-ERROR **:BadDrawable



The workaround is to compile those apps with --disable-screensaver

or if you can actually get into the application disable any idle/screensaver checking.

Gaim/gabber/everybuddy are all affected. disabling the screensaver and recompiling the app fixes the issue. Trust me it took me a long long time to find this out (hunting and asking on various lists.)

It's a bug in the X idle notification extension (see bug
#161072).  Unfortunately, this library is linked statically, so one
would have to fix xlibs and then recompile those applications. This
should already be fixed in unstable.

I'm sorry - I think I may have asked this question
a few months back.  I actually run "testing".
In general, how unstable is "unstable"?
