Installing fonts on a PC164

Hi,
yesterday I tried to install the msttcorefonts and freefonts on my 
debian/testing alpha system. Both fonts gave messages like:

ttftool: (fontname) Invalid TTF-file

And I couldn't work it out. I remember having seen the same messages when I 
had my alpha on debian/unstable, and this was one reason I tried 
debian/testing ;-)
 Do you manage to install the freefont-package, or the msttcorefonts on an 
alpha?
