Seems normal.
This is what I get on my DS5305 with a symbios 875 controller
(ultrawide):

/dev/sdb:
 Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 0.89 seconds =144.63 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 5.21 seconds = 12.29 MB/sec

Vendor: DEC Model: RZ2DA-LA (C) DEC Rev: N1H1
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Vendor: DEC Model: RZ2DA-LA (C) DEC Rev: N1H1
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02

Everything seems to work nice, the disk is just old and slow...
