I've been using the PCI 32MB SDR Radeon off and on for nearly a year now.

It runs DRI very nicely from 4.1.0 and 4.2.0, provided you have the
correctly built modules for the kernel you are running. It's always
safest to build the modules out of the XFree86 source tree, pointing
at the kernel binary tree for the kernel you wish to run.

I don't know anything about using the additional HW on the A-I-W
version, but for price, I've seen the more recent (simple) Radeon 7000
PCI here for $70 US.
