Re: pc164 & 2.4.10 & promise ultra100
Funny you asked about it..
I got my Promise Ultra100TX2 card last friday (for use in
my dual AMD box) and it FUBARed my 60GB LV... :(
It worked, but slowly, and I got hundreds of "hdg: Error:
ReadRequest bla bla bla" (I don't have the syslog here
right now) and then it just frose... After it frose 3 times
I couldn't mount it anymore. reiserfsck fucked it up big
time (because of the hardware/driver errors) and I had to
reformat it, losing weeks of work... When I did mkfs on it
it said "successful", although it spewed hde/hdg errors
in /var/log/messages. A fsck right after mkfs said that the
filesystem was corrupt. When I moved the disks so they were
all on the internal IDE-ports again it worked flawlessly.
I'll write a more detailed bugreport to Alan tonight.
So it seems that the Promise Ultra100-cards does NOT work
on 2.4.x. Not on 2.4.9-ac10 anyway...
