Yes, "pci_no_disconnect" often does help with Trio64 cards on the
EV4-based machines. A hang is most often the symptom, as mentioned.

As for the cursor, did you try the "swcursor" option, to avoid using
the hardware cursor code?

And what version of XFree86 are you using?

And are you prepared to do some debugging?
