UP1000 Question about partitions

Hello all,

I have finally got my alpha running, and am trying to
install potato via floppy.

I have followed the instructions as best as I could,
but late in the base installation, I get a message:

  cannot install up1000.pal and APB in FAT partition.

My partition table looks like this

/dev/sda1  Boot  Fat16<32      6 (MB)
/dev/sda3        Linux Swap    189
/dev/sda2        Linux Native  8991

Has anyone had a similar problem or could offer any
advice?  This is the first alpha machine I've had to
install on, and my first scsi machine.
