OT: remote X-session to alpha produces errors.
Hi all,
I know, that this is a little off-topic here - I hope you don't mind...
I run Debian/potato on my Alpha, with only a serial console instatlled.
I use xdm to provide a login to a remote system, running Debian/slink
( mostly upgraded towards potato ) and XFree 4.0. Currently ( for
experimenting ), the Xsession just starts an xterm. Using that, I start
my window manager of choice, fvwm2.
Everything works fine, while I keep working on the machine. If I stop,
just leaving the screen as it is, the fvwm2 crashes, giving the follwing
message:
XIO: fatal IO error 60 (Connection timed out) on X server "eyes:0.0"
after 674 requests (657 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
This happens after some 15-20 minutes of inactivity. I can restart fvwm2
again manually, using the xterm, which keeps running as well as the Xserver.
I am *definitely* not an X-pert ;-)
Any clue would be helpful.
Thanx, and again my apologies for the OT-post.
Regards,
Thomas Weyegraf
