TGA card and X woes

Hi all,

I recently decided to swap the TGA ZLXp-E1 graphics card that I had
installed in my Avanti (AS250) with a TGA ZLXp-E3 card that had been
lying around the office for about a year and a half.

After I rebooted, the console mode came back OK, but I immediately noted
something different: on boot up of the kernel ( 2.2.10 on potato ) no
picture of Tux appeared in the top left hand corner.

In addition, when I start X I get the following message:

---------------------------------------

If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer
than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages

What does this actually mean? That my card has not been detected or
that I need to play around with my ModeLines some more?

Hmmm, my card type is a PBXGB-CA.

Can anybody help me out here.
Thanks,

Edgar.
