Installation question
For 1, I'm a Linux-newbie
I followed the directions on all papers (doc's FAQ, HOWTO's) to get Linux to
install on a Digital Server 3000 (Used to be Alpha Server 800/500, which has
been modified to be able to run Windows NT Only). I have the strongest
feeling that this system can actually also run Linux.
The system has a SCSI controller to which a systemdisk and a CD-ROM are
attached.
I followed the procedure below using the noritake-p image files.
d: (change to the CD drive)
cd \dists\stable\main\disks-alpha\current
rawrite2 -f resc1440.bin -d a: (a: is the 1.44 MB floppy drive)
The floppydisk was written succesfully.
>From here I followed the instructions of the Readme-File for Installation of
Debian Linux 2.1 on Alpha.
I seem to be able to use procedure 2C. However, I cannot get past the aboot>
due to a lack of knowledge of Linux.
This is how far I get ...
boot dva0 -flags i works OK. (floppydisk)
boot dka500 -flags i works OK (CDROM)
When i want to boot Linux it keeps telling me that it cannot find the file
Linux
What should be specified in <boot-path> value ?
I assumed that this should be "/boot/noritake-p/" (without quotes), no luck.
