I know something about this. :)
Please register a bug on Perl since this is obviously a bug. Could you
please tell me which other files should be different? Currently, only
the asm-${arch} files are generated per architecture. If you'll tell
which others need to also be different, I can fix them.
BTW, is there an alpha-linux box for debian developers to test on?
