  IIRC gcl is not ported yet. It uses i386 assembler which causes this to be
  somewhat tricky. Most scheme interpreters are really bad 64bit written (at
  least the ones I've looked at). The only working scheme compiler on Alpha I
  know is guile-scsh. Maybe you could try this one?

  If you need gcl then try to run it under em86. Maybe this works...
