The Cirrus Logic code in the SVGA server has not been ported to the Alpha
yet and, thus, is not compiled into it. The root of the problem is that
the code appears pretty ugly and definitely is not 64-bit clean. Until
all of that is fixed by either upstream authors or some really industrious
individual, CL cards aren't supported at all on the Alphas under X. Come
to think of it, I'm not sure if there's ANY good CL support with any
software on the Alpha (unless the GGI project has tackled that already).

In short, if you have the means, pick up a Matrox Millenium II (which
supposedly works REALLY well) or another supported card (I use an old S3
card that I have laying around which works fine).
