Problems installing Debian 2.1 Alpha on Ruffian Pc164 UX board !

We have tried to install Debian 2.1 Alpha on an PC164-UX board, Symbios Logic
SCSI onboard, DEC 21143 Ethenet onboard, 1,5 GB Ram, SCSI CD ROM, 8GB IBM SCSI
Platte.

We had the following problems:
-- Milo worked fine, except that we had to use different parameters for the
AlphaBIOS/ARC compoared to the ones described in the HOWTO.
-- The kernel did always give KERNEL PAGING REQUESTS ERRORS, when trying to
initiialize partitions on the hard disk. So we could not get through to
installing the base sstem.
-- After using a 2.0.36 kernel and copying it to the Rescue disk, we could
install the base system.
-- using dselect (apt-get to be exact) did not work well: VERY OFTEN we get
again the KERNEL PAGING REQUESTS ERRORS and the computer was frozen.
-- We also had trouble updating the glibc6.1. To that end we had to reboot the
computer and then it worked.
-- dpkg seems not to run at all, it gives a lot of errors, does not download
suing ftp sometimes or even crashes the computer totally.
Installing some packages by hand, using dpkg worked fine, so far.

Does anybody know of these Kernel Errors occuring on DEC Alpha machines ????
They seem to occur most often, when accessing the harddisk ?! Could it be the
SCSI Controller driver ??

Thnaks for any help and I hope I could help with this report to make the alpha
distribution more mature....

Right now I am trying to install Redhat 5.2 on the machine, but there is also a
similar problem with it. So it seems to me a hardware/kernel problem, but I do
not know who to contact about this !???

Maybe somebody could help ...
