This really seems to be a problem. I'm not using ipfwad on the Alpha, so it
doesn't disturb me much...

Has anyone tried a recent 2.1.x kernel and (successfully) used ipchains?

Traps come from some programs, especially XF86_SVGA. The trap that occurs
at partition check doesn't hurt me much, because it happens exactly once.
Traps in applications are more severe because they potentially can really
hurt performance. They're being worked on, though :)
