Sure - an alpha-only CD-ROM will be fine :)

Yes because the installation procedure actually gets the kernel image it
copies over from the resc1440.bin image.  Now it the loop fs was in MILO
we could even load the kernel from inside it... :)

Ditto: I also have a CD-ROM writer available to me and will (re)install
both i386 and alpha Debian 2.0-frozen a number of times anyway the next
weeks.
