Report + Anyone got Linux installed on an Alpha with SRM console?
Thanks to Ryan's page at http://www.mindspring.com/~ccsf-lug/AS200.htm, I
was able to install a base "hamm" system but had to switch to ARC console
first. I like SRM because it allows console to be on serial a port. For
my latest try for SRM I did the following:
>>> boot dva0 - which has RAWRITE of
ftp://gatekeeper.dec.com/pub/Digital/Linux-Alpha/Miniloader/v2.0/latest/AlphaStation
200/milo.dd
MILO> boot fd0:vmlinux.gz "root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1"
which has RAWRITE of
ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/hamm/hamm/disks-alpha/1997-08-12/resc1440.bin.avanti-s
It freezes at:
"... ...turning on virtual addressing and jumping to the Linux Kernel"
and never gets to point of asking for the root-image disk.
Any ideas? Thanks. Sam.
System Spec:
DEC-AlphaStation-200(Mustang/Avanti Family)
CPU=21064A
SCSI=Builtin-ncr53c7
RAM=16M Parity
HD=SEAGATE ST1480 (~420M?)
