This also happens with qmail. There is a problem regarding the
optimisation that hasn't been solved yet. I can't exactly explain where
or why, but I forwarded a report of the qmail problem to Richard Henderson
already (this is probably the same situation). Most likely, this isn't
the new gcc's fault, but more of a generalised Alpha gcc problem.

I'm thinking of doing this, but until we get it up to master, I'm hesitant
to since I compile quite a few packages and don't want to "assume"
everyone else is upgraded as well (yet) :)

I'll add this to my list of "things that don't work" and try it with egcs.
