Hello from ROCm
Howdy folks,
I just subscribed to the mailing list and figured I'd introduce myself.
I'm a developer in the ROCm libraries group at AMD. I work primarily on
rocSOLVER, though I often collaborate with other
{roc, hip}{BLAS,SOLVER,FFT,SPARSE} developers. I implement some linear
algebra algorithms, but if I must be honest, my colleagues are better at
that than I am. My focus over these past few months has been on learning
the ROCm stack from top to bottom and cleaning up our build systems (for
both code and documentation).
I'm just here in my spare time, but I'd like to help however I can. If
you're encountering problems building and packaging any ROCm libraries,
I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. I can also triage
issues and upstream fixes where appropriate.
While I have knowledge of ROCm, I don't have any experience with the
process of creating and maintaining official Debian packages. I hope
that by following along here and helping out as needed, I can learn some
useful tidbits on how our choices upstream affect folks doing the packaging.
If you have any questions about ROCm right now, please feel free to ask.
I'd also love to hear any feedback you might have on things that make
packaging easy or difficult. Looking at the repositories in
https://salsa.debian.org/rocm-team, it seems like nothing has happened
in a while. Have you encountered any roadblocks that I could help with?
Sincerely,
Cordell Bloor
P.S. Thanks to Christian Kastner for informing me about the existence of
this mailing list.
