I don't think the policy says that; can you point to the sentence that
does?

The new rules require each package to depend on the _default_ version of
GNAT that is installed, as well as a specific version. Nothing about
_current_.

On the other hand, "current" could mean several things:

- latest release from AdaCore (not relevant here, really)

- latest package in Debian unstable

- latest package in Debian testing

- latest package in Debian stable

- version currently installed on your machine

Note that only one version of gnat can be installed at one time.

The policy rules should ensure that you can install only Ada development
packages consistent with the gnat currently installed.
