Have you tried this without the GUI on a TTY? At least on my MATE desktop, I
sometimes get funny behaviour with the graphical bluetooth adapter + bluetooth
stack behaviour. Have you tried connecting via bluetoothctl (`bluetoothctl
connect <addr>`)? I would, as soon as the connection was successful, run
BRLTTY as root like `brltty -d bluetooth: -b YOUR_BRAILLE_DRIVER`. I'm not
sure whether it needs to be `bluetooth:` or `bluetooth`, for USB it's usually
`usb:`.

I have sporadic issues with my braille display (Handytech) and bluetooth, but
not of this kind. A connection would not be possible and only `systemctl
restart bluetooth` and a few seconds of waiting are usually enough.
