I've now installed a fresh system to reproduce the problem taht no sound is there after installation.

These are the packages related to alsa after installation:

root@debian:~# dpkg -l | grep alsa

the file /var/lib/alsa/asound.state is not present directly after the installatio :-( :

root@debian:~# ls /var/lib/alsa/
root@debian:~#

Braille is working...

I've used the latest RC of Debian Bullsey. The system has been installed into a virtual machine in VMware Workstation Pro 15.5.7 running on a Dell XPS 13 laptop with the latest Windows 10 Home edition as the host system.
