I agree. Text to speech synthesis is not something needed by those with disabilities only, and has many other applications for many others. I think Festival and its various pieces, espeak, flite, and even speech-ispatcher as the predominant framework for using sed synths should all be maintained by this team.
Count me in as interested, and willing to help maintain.
