Basically, all is needed is to

git clone http://linux-speakup.org/speakup.git

Apply patches/kernel-integration-2.6.24-source.patch to the main kernel
source to GPL-export 4 symbols, and then run

make $(cat allmodules.mk) SUBDIRS=$PWD -C /some/where/linux-whatever

from src/
