speed up password logins

Hi,

here’s the trick again, before I forget it:

# $EDITOR /etc/pam.d/common-password

Search the line:

password [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so obscure sha512

Change the sha512 to md5. Save and exit the editor, then
run “passwd root” and set a new password (or the same one).

Read 「man 3 crypt」, too.

bye,

what about xfs, and if only i had waited until reiser4 was ready... in the be-

was still ffs, and the sys admins knew it was good. :) -- Ted Unangst über *fs
