That was my plan, modify the libgcc sources. The changes to gcc I was
taking about were changes to how the atomic functions are registered;
this idea stems from the observation that gcc-4.6 already apparently
tries to call the functions by emitting calls to them, despite lacking
those deep changes.

Ouch. Well, the general Linux/m68k “world” seems to want the syscall,
for both MMU-less/old and Coldfire systems.
