It seems at least the nativehd ramdisk > (debian/dists/sarge/main/installer-m68k/current/images/nativehd/initrd.gz) only works with a kernel with devfs configured, but that is no longer an option with recent 2.6 kernels. No d-i porting work has been done for 2.6 on m68k by me since the only machines I have access to are macs and atari (via aranym) -- neither of which are ready for d-i.
