What you describe looks like many other posts on this list. LC 475 haveoften flawed 68LC040 processors that cripple math calculation even withmath emulation compiled in the kernel. You may find documentation aboutthe issue on mac68k web site. If I guess right, you should find a real68040 whith built-in math coprocessor.
