Does anyone have any idea how I can make things work anyway, so I can
install packages over the net?

One thing is like this: I have SORT OF a static IP. When I connect to the
network I get an IP that stays locked to my cable-modem for 24 hours. Is it
possible together with that to configure things up?

Or: I have another kernel that I have compiled myself earlier under RedHat.
Can I just use that instead of the kernel that comes with amigainstall to
make things work?

My questions are many and I want to run debian. RedHat doesn't work very
well and aren't as well developed as Debian, that I have learned.
