Greetings, and question

Hi all, I dusted off my venerable A2000 plus GVP '030 accelerator, and
have started putting Debian-m68k on it. It's not much of a machine:

An old 105 meg Quantum drive, and a Fujitsu 1.2G full-height
    full-weight full-everything drive.
A 33Mhz 68030 + SCSI Combo card that cost me $1500 when it was new *8-).
A whopping 4 megs of GVP super-proprietary RAM on the GVP Combo card.
A de-interlacing card (the first one ever, I think).
  A GVP I/O Extender (cool, it's supported!!)
An A2091 with no megs of RAM on it.
A Phonepak (which I expected it to ignore -- just too lazy to remove
    it).
An A2065 that isn't actually connected to a network, since all my other
machines (except the A3000 with A2065) don't have BNC connectors, and
I have no hub with one (yet).

Anyway, I've followed the well-written instructions written by Mr.
Neumann, and I've got to the point where it recognizes most of the stuff
I've got installed (especially all the disks I expect to be there).

However, I get this error:

RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
[time passes -- it is just a little '030 after all]
invalid compressed format (err=1)VFS: Mounted root (minix filesystem).
init: error in loading shared libraries
libnewt.so.0.21: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

And then nothing (which is kind of expected). It looks like the
compressed image that got dumped into my ramdisk is hosed (and it gets
mounted anyway, since there's not much else for it to try), and almost
nothing is there.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get around this? Is there
perhaps not enough RAM in my machine? The RAMDISK that gets created is
supposedly only 608k, so there should be lots of memory left, even after
that.

I zcat -c'ed the rootamiga.bin file on my Linux x86 machine, and it checks
out fine. Uploaded it to the Amiga again (just the rootamiga.bin this
time, rather than the whole amigainstall.lha -- it takes a while at 19200
bps). No go.

PS. I looked in the lists.debian.org list archives for "invalid
compressed format" and found nothing...
