There can't be a \0. TOS partitions have a 3 byte ID, so LNX or SWP is all that
fits in. fdisk should add the \0.
My guess is that dinstall doesn't reread the partition table after the
'partition disk' step. Simple test: restart dinstall (as per one of the install
menu options).
