No, it's a feature. As such, it's not going to disappear any time soon. chown
won't operate on the file pointed to by a symlink anymore to close a security
hole with files in a publicly writeable area (such as /tmp). At least that's
what I gathered on linux-kernel.

There's a reason why 2.1 kernels are not used for Debian (more than one reason
in fact, but that's one of them). Just use 2.0.x for the time being (or try to
figure out how to change the postinst scripts to do the Right Thing).
