There is no wired access, but there is good wifi. However, I do not
know if there is guest access, as I always connect with my student
account. If there is no guest access I know that it can be arranged.

Your 300 people will not overwhelm the PSU bandwidth, but you probably
will find that the access points on the third floor are a bottleneck.

Yeah, overloading the APs is one fear.  2014 technology can handle it, but if the hardware was put years ago.. who knows?

The other is how much hassle the arranged access is.

the guest access is something like associate to an open network, enter your email address into a web form, get 10 minutes so you can check your email and get a code, put code into web form, now you have 24 hours of access.  (not sure what "you" refers to, like can I use the code/cookie/whatever on a 2nd device?  can I reboot?  can I roam to another AP?)

The third floor of Smith has a large ballroom with stage, and that is
probably where they expect you to assemble. There are also numerous
smaller rooms surrounding the area. I do wonder, however, how many
access points are in the ballroom.

I said above that there is no wired access, but there may be a wired
connector on the stage for the podium.

We aren't in the ballroom (yet) - for now the talks are in 327, 328, 329 and some other rooms for hacking.

yet = I hear we might want to upgrade from the smaller rooms given the number of attendees we have, but like everything it will cost $.

>Should we bring in an outside vendor?  $$$!

What do you mean by "an outside vendor"? Advertisers who would set up
booths?

No.  Bring in an ISP that will provide an easier to use system. I hear it is an option.  Seems silly, but if the PSU policies are such that the attendees will get a headache, it is an option.
