4:3, just like last year.

the video res is 720x480, but not square pixels. Years ago 800x600 was recommended and that has worked fine.

I would wget this and edit it. some of the sponsor logos are the same.

it's ok with me, but not my decision ;)

* I found the logo of DC15 here (http://debconf15.debconf.org/images/bg_logo.png), but it's low res. Anyone has a svg of that

Don't let this be a blocker, it is likely fine:

bg_logo.png: PNG image data, 415 x 130, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced

Last years was 350x150

If someone comes up with something better, it is easy enough to select, delete, insert the new one, size it, save, done.

ps - please include the image in the svg. external will work, but becomes a hassle when moving the svg around.
